Eddie Hempe has been in the restaurant industry his entire career. At the age of 16, he started as a busboy with Pelicans Wharf in Brownsville, Texas and over the years worked his way up the ranks to General Manager. In 1986, he was moved to Austin to be the General Manager of Captain Boomers. A year later, 1987, he had the opportunity to become a partner of Player Hamburgers, an Austin tradition just off UT Campus. Eddie is currently an owner and operator at Players Hamburgers and also operates the Food & Beverage facilities at the City of Austin Golf Courses; Clay/Kizer, Morris Williams, & Lions. On July 1st, 2010 Eddie joined with a new partner and purchased the Parmer location of J&J's Bar-B-Que, which will soon be changing its name to Silver Grill Cafe.
Rehan Awan has been in the restaurant industry for almost three decades and has worked for two fortune five hundred restaurant companies. Over the course of his career his outstanding performance in guest service, quality standards and profitability made him a Top 5 performer and member of the elite Diamond Club and the Million Dollar Club. His ability to guide restaurant staff, from dishwashers to managers, earned him Manager of the Year and Area Director of the Year. After years of high performance and achievements for large corporations he knew the opportunity to partner with Eddie Hempe would fulfill his desire to be an entrepreneur. Starting Silver Grill Cafe allows him to take his passion for great tasting food and outstanding hospitality to the next level.
